Angela Evelyn Bassett, an American actress is well known for her performance in films and television in the latter half of the 1980s. Bassett has been awarded a variety of awards, like two Golden Globe Awards as well as sixteen NAACP Image Award. Known for her work in TV and film in the 1980s, she's been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett born in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt, who was born to New York New York, is an acclaimed actor. Her mother split with her father when she was around five. Her younger sister later went to St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett when she was in high school, saw John Steinbeck's production Of Mice and Men with James Earl Jones and she was inspired to be an actor.
